“Walk and Roll” a Great Success – Thanks!

October 23, 2011

Thank you to all who participated in our Walk and Roll to School week.  Every morning, we had over 200 students report that they had either walked or rolled to Edmunds.  That is more than half our student population!  With students walking between 1 – 2 miles to school, the Edmunds community drove 1000 – 2000 fewer miles to school last week than if we all had all driven our cars.  Way to go parents and students!  Finally, a special thank you goes out to Clare Wool who helped coordinate the event!

Students who walked or rolled at least 3 days to school last week received

pencils, a $6 safety gear coupon, and reflectors.  Congratulations to Mr. Houchen’s 4th grade class, which won the Walk and Roll Trophy. Of all the classrooms, they had the largest number students walk or roll to school. They also won a bike-blended smoothie party during snack time!

We presented our crossing guards with Thank-You cards that the students had created and signed at lunchtime.  On Friday morning, students lined the halls and clapped and cheered as Principal Mathias escorted the crossing guards up and down the school hallways.  The guards gave high fives to every little hand that was held up to them.

We also presented our morning drop-off helpers at the horseshoe with Thank-You cards.  Three cheers for our morning drop off crew for making drop off safe for all of us!

Skate Night – Thanks to All

October 3, 2011

Edmunds families got a little taste of winter fun last Friday night, September 30, 2011 with the annual Skate Night at Leddy Arena.  More than 200 people turned out for tow hours of skating to the tunes of DJ (and Edmunds parent) Jen Green.  Thanks for volunteering Jen, and thank you to Warren Cornwall for coordinating the evening.   We polished off 36 pizzas from Leonardo’s which deserves a big “Thank you” for giving the EES PTO a very generous discount for the event.

Help Needed with Fall Fundraiser

October 3, 2011

WOW!

Update: We sold over $12,500 worth of Dan’s Chocolates, $3,800 of Innisbrook and $1,000 of Vermont Coffee.  We don’t have final #s yet for profit – but it will be over $9,000!  This is great for the PTO, as we are starting the year with our bank account much lower than we would need to support all of the things we voted to support in this year’s PTO budget.

Thank you to Dan Cunningham, an Edmunds parent and owner of Dan’s Chocolates, who donated ALL of the profits (over $7,000) to the PTO.  A special thank you to all of the children and families who did such an awesome job raising money for our PTO!!!

—————————————–

This year we will be selling Dan’s Chocolates, Vermont Coffee, and Innisbrook Wrapping Paper.  Volunteers are needed to help with the collection of orders and sorting and distribution of orders when they arrive.  If you are able to help, please contact Sandy Flemer at 862-5853 or  SandraFlemer@gmail.com

Thank you!
