Screenagers Showing Tomorrow!! 2/15/17 5:30-7 BHS

Burlington PTO groups are hosting a free showing of the movie Screenagers on February 15th at 5:30 at the Burlington High School auditorium.
Are you watching kids scroll through life, with their rapid-fire thumbs and a six-second attention span? Physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston saw that with her own kids and learned that the average kid spends 6.5 hours a day looking at screens. She wondered about the impact of all this time and about the friction occurring in homes and schools around negotiating screen time—friction she knew all too well.
In SCREENAGERS, as with her award-winning documentaries on mental health, Delaney takes a deeply personal approach as she probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including her own, to explore struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories, along with surprising insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, SCREENAGERS reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance.

Crayola ColorCycle Recycling Program!
We are excited to tell you about a very special program we are coordinating at our
school in conjunction with Crayola. It’s called Crayola ColorCycle – an amazing new
program devised to turn used markers into energy.
Please help support our efforts by sending your kids in with any used markers you may
have around the house – even non-Crayola brands. The drop-off box will be located next
to the Box Top Collection box in front of the office for your child to deposit the markers. Letters are going home this week with more information. Any question please contact Meloney Kirkpatrick mjkillpartrick

Shrek Performance Bake Sales

Every year during the intermission of each performance we hold a bake sale to help cover costs of the annual musical. In order to make this fundraiser successful, we ask for donations of food, baked goods, and drinks for the Friday night and Saturday afternoon performances. We welcome participation from all families whether or not you have children in the musical. Your contribution makes a big difference to our school and offers a popular intermission destination for the audience!

Please use the link to sign up to help at one of the bake sales or to donate food or beverages. Please indicate in comments if your item is gluten, nut, dairy free or vegan. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

You may drop the item off at the bake sale tables at your child’s ‘call time’ or prior to the show at EMS Gym. Please remember to label all plates/containers with your name and include information on ingredients/allergens (nuts, dairy, etc.).
